     In China when I was going through training in 1996 before starting ministry in Chicago, I heard that they do have state-run churches but there are certain things that they are not allowed to speak on, such as resurrection, and certain programs that they could not have, such as Sunday school  Thus, many were choosing to meet secretly in their homes where they could worship in freedom.  This was illegal.  One time there were around 10 people meeting secretly when soldiers broke in, threw the Bible on the ground
