Floyd E. Junker, 85

Floyd E. Junker, 85, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away Monday night, July 21, 2025, at the Waverly Health Center.

Floyd was born the son of Fred and Anna (Maifeld) Junker on April 2, 1940, in Aplington, Iowa. He attended Albion #6 School, rural Parkersburg and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1958.

Floyd was united in marriage to Judith Haats at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington, Iowa on June 9, 1961. Floyd was employed by Clay Equipment Co. in Cedar Falls from 1958 – 1968. He was then employed by Standard Oil LP & Fertilizer Co. from 1968 – 1974. Moving to Waverly in 1975, he became self-employed as petroleum marketer for Amoco Oil Co. until 1987 when he began employment with Wartburg College.

Music was a big part of Floyd’s life. He enjoyed playing and singing music with his family and friends, entertaining groups, music functions and family gatherings. He was the originator of Beaver Creek Band. He also enjoyed horseback riding and was a board member of the Dairy Spot Trailriders Club for many years. Floyd treasured his almost daily morning coffee hour at Hy-Vee and visiting with friends. However, time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was most valued; he especially liked attending their sports activities.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Jeffrey (Carla) Junker of Ankeny, IA, Janita (Gregory) Bast of Goldfield, IA, and Jody (Kenneth) Franzen of Waverly; grandchildren,  Odissa, Elijah, Brandon, Dillon, Grant, and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Oliva, Emma, Sophia, Trace, Quinlan, Owen, Embry, and Nolan; siblings, Victor Junker of New Hartford, Ralph Junker of Sitka, AK, Anna (Richard) Cady of St. Maul, MN, Milanya (Jay) Hall of Cedar Falls, and Curtis (Deb) Junker of Denver; several nieces and nephews; and long-time special friend, Brett “The Banjo Man” Vette. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dalton Bast; his parents; three sisters, Rosie Harberts, Marilyn Legler and Imogene Spree; and four brothers, Alvin, Alfred, Fredrick and Jerry.

Funeral services will be held at10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Heritage Global Methodist Church with Pastors Jon Hennings and Elijah Junker officiating. Burial will follow in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to Floyd’s family for later designation and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
