New Aplington-Parkersburg softball coaches start with fundamentals

PARKERSBURG – Sara Janssen and Emily Williamson hope that their love for softball carries over to the Aplington-Parkersburg softball team.

The new co-head coaches for the Falcon program look to fundamentals as a cornerstone for building on their inaugural seasons in the coaches' box. A-P was 7-20 overall last season and went 3-13 in the NICL East.

"We also want them to have enthusiasm and enjoy the game and just have some fun while we're doing it, too," Janssen said. "One of the hardest things is that they naturally want to be next to each other, close to each other and it's just like retraining them to remember their distance [with COVID-19-based restrictions]."
