The county supervisors’ meeting room was full on Tuesday, March 10, as about 14 people attended the public hearing on the proposed FY21 county budget. Concerns about a tax increase led to the budget being tabled for revision.
According to Parkersburg City Administrator Chris Luhring, the tax increase proposed was concerning for a trifecta of reasons: the increase in the levy by $1.15 per thousand was accentuated by the agricultural rollback set by the state and a higher assessed taxable land valuation.
