A-P's Bovy, Mulder earn spots at all-state speech

PARKERSBURG – Aplington-Parkersburg students LeeAnn Bovy and Elena Mulder recently earned a place at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s 2022 All-State Individual Speech Festival, which was held last week at UNI.

Bovy and Mulder performed well at district and state level competitions to advance to the all-state festival.

At the district competition on Feb. 26, Mulder competed in the musical theater category and Bovy competed in poetry and literature.

Seven vie for 2020 Miss Parkersburg crown

Judging for Miss Parkersburg will be Friday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Legend Trail Golf Course, and the coronoation will be Saturday, Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at MidWestOne Bank. The winners of the Iowa State Bank Little Mr. and Miss Parkersburg contest will be crowned prior to the Miss Parkersburg crowning. A fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. on the 15th at All-Play Ball Park, presented by the Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce.
