On Saturday, Oct. 17, four downtown Aplington businesses had their ribbon cutting ceremonies. They were attended by city officials and Chamber of Commerce members. The new businesses were Shear Boutique, Peppersprout, Amber Lyons Photography and the re-opening of Then & Again Vintage. All of the businesses are along or directly next to Parriott Street in downtown Aplington.
The Aplington City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, October 14 at Aplington City Hall.
The council heard a report from Maggie Burger, Senior Vice President at Speer Financial, an independent firm of municipal advisors that specialize solely in collaborations with government entities. Burger, telecommunicating with the council, discussed the Fiscal Year 2021 Tax Increment Finance (TIF) report.
During discussion of Public Works, the council approved 25 feet of setback from the curb for the new construction of houses.
