AREA - After Governor Kim Reynolds recommended during a Sunday afternoon press conference that all Iowa school districts suspend classes for four weeks due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Aplington-Parkersburg and Dike-New Hartford followed suit shortly thereafter, along with all of the other districts in the area.
AREA - With the recent retirement announcement from shared Aplington-Parkersburg and Grundy Center foodservice director Kathryn Patrick, the two districts are considering two distinctive paths for the future: one that would basically follow the current course and another that would open up foodservice administration to an outside private company.
“Those outside services often times have opportunities to find more effective ways to purchase in larger quantities and distribute those, so that’s a real benefit we have as a possibility,” shared Superintendent Robert Hughes said.
