Parkersburg resident Chris Copp, a Cedar Falls Public Safety Officer (PSO), will be recognized as a Public Safety Hero along with fellow PSO John Zolondek and Black Hawk County Deputies Joe Schmidt and Nick Smith at MercyOne’s 15th annual Heroes Among Us Awards Ceremony and Breakfast on Thursday, March 26 at the Diamond Event Center in Cedar Falls.
“I was kind of surprised. I’m not one [who does things] for recognition,” said Copp, when asked his reaction to the nomination. “I’m just doing my job. I don’t like to be in the spotlight.”
Parkersburg will be buzzing with excitement on Wednesday, July 22 as RAGBRAI is scheduled to roll through town.
Bikers will ride into town from the west on Highway 57 after spending the night in Iowa Falls. The day’s 70-mile route will likely take riders through Ackley and Aplington before they reach Parkersburg, which will be a meeting stop for support vehicles around lunch time at the 39-mile mark.
